Boys Will Be Boys

Last night we went on a golf cart sunset cruise with our friends Linda & Steve and John & Judy.  The sunset wasn't all that spectacular, but it was still nice and there was a good breeze coming out of the North and even though it was still very hot and humid, the wind made it a bit more comfortable. It started out as nothing out of the ordinary.  Gary took a few pictures of us girls on the driftwood log and we talked about how lucky were are to be here and how crazy the folks next to us on the dock were for swimming in the bay at dusk and jumping off the dock into water filled with oyster shells and who knows what else.  One of the young girls did wind up cutting her foot on something and it was bleeding quite a bit.   After Gary took our picture, us girls told the guys to sit together on the driftwood log, just knowing they would never do it.  They balked at first but then obliged us and sat on the log and seemed to get quite cozy.  If we didn't have the pictures to prove it, I'm sure all three would deny ever doing it!  I think I will make copies and distribute them to all their rough and tough guy friends.  Sunset doesn't make for the best lighting for pictures of people, but you can still tell who we are I guess.

Sunset and Things With Wings

Yesterday was a relaxing day and we really didn't accomplish much.  It rained most of the day, thanks, I guess, to Tropical Storm Bonnie out in the Gulf.  We did take a sunset golf cart ride Saturday night.  Here are some pictures from our outing. There was a dock next to us where some guys were cleaning their fresh catch of the day, so we had a lot of sea gulls flying around. There was also a lot of bait fish jumping so they were also diving for those.  I had a dragonfly friend for a while.  It just hung out on my sleeve and let me take pictures up until the point when the flash went off.  I don't think it liked that too much and is probably still seeing spots!

Black and blue can be pretty.

A Vist From Sy

Last weekend Sy came to spend Saturday and Sunday with us while his Mommy and Daddy went to work on the house in Havana.  We didn't know it at the time, but this would be the last weekend he would live here.  Ashley got a job in Tallahassee beginning this coming Monday, so they packed up and headed up "North".  I already knew what it felt like to have 2 grandchildren that I rarely get to see and I now know what it feels like to have one leave that I did get to see often.  To be quite frank, both feelings suck, but what do you do?  Life happens and you adjust.  Back to the weekend - We didn't really do anything special, we just hung around the house, Sy played in the pool, we went on golf cart rides and tried to hang when Sy wanted to stay up until the wee hours of the morning.  I think he could stay up all night if you would let him!  Of course the 3 sugar filled popsicles might have been the reason, Grandpa.  We also had a very pleasant surprise visit from our friend Tammy Neal, her sons Jeffery and Andrew, Tammy's niece and a friend of the boys'.  It was nice to visit with her and as she says, we are always able to pick up where we left off as if we haven't been away from each other at all.  I guess that's the way it works with good friends.  Here are some pics from Sy's visit.
