We came up for Sy's 2nd birthday and stopped by to pick up Christie, Thomas and Gracie, but Thomas had been running a fever, so Christie decided they better not go. Joey went to Monticello for the annual corn putt'n up day. Poor little Thomas was just not feeling good and was not himself. He needed lots of cuddling and had to have his bunny blanket that he call "Doe". Gracie had a runny nose, but was operating at full throttle. Christie didn't feel well herself and when Joey got home, he felt bad too! Later Joey went out to mow the grass and Thomas and Gracie kept wanting to watch him out of the windows. Their neighbor was mowing too and anytime Thomas hears a mower going he calls out his name. Pawpaw took Thomas outside and he went on a lawnmower ride with his Daddy for a little while. No one felt like fixing dinner so we picked up hot wings from The Hobbit. They were yummy, but they were hot as H-E-double hockey sticks! Now all of our noses were running and Christie said he eyes were even sweat'n! We got up the next morning and Joey cooked us some corned beef hash and scrambled eggs. Pawpaw cooked the babes some french toast sticks, but they were not very impressed with them. They wound up eating a variety of items including, but not limited to, cereal, peaches, watermelon, strawberries and yogurt. I think the babes think all their pawpaw does is pee. Every time he goes down the hall they say "pawpaw pee pee". He does pee a lot! They are both so sweet and have good sugas even with burning fevers and snotty noses! Hopefully, they will come visit over the 4th of July and we can get in the parade. Here's some pics from this visit:

Sy Dozier Bartlett Turns Two
This is being written on the 29th, but Sy actually turned two on the 26th . It is so hard to believe my little sweet pea and Grandpa's little buddy is already two years old. He is really becoming a little man now and is so smart. He can count to 20 and he can sing his ABC's and knows his colors. He LOVES anything with wheels just like his Daddy did (and still does). He will repeat anything you tell him to say and he is just so sweet. If you sneeze or cough, he will say "bess you papa or grandma" or whoever it is that needs blessing. And he is always so excited to see us and runs up to jump into our arms. If you leave the room for a minute and come back he always says "hey grandma" or "hey Mama or Dada", etc. Recently we had him for the weekend and we went to the Dollar Store to get him a pool. At the check-out counter, the clerk was talking to him and I told him to ask her "how you do'win" and instead he said "how you do'win big mama"! She replied back "how you do'win little man"! Our friend Kim had visited and her grandson calls her "Big Mama" and the clerk did look at little like her, so I had to explain why he said that. I didn't want her to think he was a player already! His party was held at his Uncle Jonathan and Aunt Kim's house in Tallahassee and was an ice cream/pool party. Cousin Thomas was sick, so he and Gracie were not able to come and of course Aunt Christie and Uncle Joey didn't come either. There were lots of friends and family there though and he got lots of very nice gifts - toys, clothes, books, money, etc. He got a little upset when he had to put one down to open another. He couldn't quite understand that situation, but he was a trooper and kept on opening gift after gift. After eating ice cream and opening his gifts, most of us old folks left and the young folks continued on with the pool party. (I was going to put my thong on and join them, but we really needed to get back home.) Here are a few photos of the party.
"Boom" Shaka Laka "Boom"
Well we finally went on a boat ride Sunday after getting back from Tallahassee for Sy's 2nd Birthday and boy was it H-O-T hot! We first headed to the Cut and went out into the Gulf for a short distance in search of dolphins. We only saw a small pod in the bay, but they weren't performing acrobatics, so I didn't take any pics. When we came back through the Cut, we went West a little to check out the boom. There was red boom, yellow boom and ball floaty things of various colors. I am sure the colors meant something, but I have no idea what. There was also a helicopter that periodically flew overhead - I assume it was on a oil recon mission. After that, we headed East past more boom here and there and stopped at one of our favorite "parking" areas to relax and wade in the waters. This spot has a small "pool" area and when the tide is going out, warm water from the pool streams back out to the bay. It feels just like bath water. There were lots of bait fish in the pool and I saw a really cool black bird with red on it's wings, but it flew off before I could take a picture. Here are some pictures from our outing.

Weird Plants and a Rainbow
I took the plant pictures two weekends ago on our way up to Tally Ho. They were along the side of the road on Highway 65. I've seen them in pictures, but never in real life. The yellow-ish ones are pitcher plants and I don't know what the other one is, but it's cool. The other is a rainbow over our neighbor's house.
Weekend with Sy
Sy came to stay with us this weekend while Ryan and Ashley went to work on Grandpa Dozier's house. Friday night we rode around on the golf cart and went to see the Sunset. Sy and Grandpa waded around in the bay a little and we visited with some friends we hadn't seen in a long time that used to lived here - Kevin, Candice and Deigo. They also had Candice's Mom, Dad and nephew with them. We also met a very nice family from Ohio who were vacationing here and they said they loved it. They couldn't believe how uncrowded the beaches are. Saturday we went to Apalachicola to get prescriptions filled and we bought a blow up pool because "someone", okay it was Gary, tore a giant hole in the one we had. When we were checking out, the lady at the cash register was talking to Sy. I told him to ask her "How you do'win?" and instead, he said "How you do'win big mama?". To which she replied "how you do'win little man?" After that we went to Burger King. When we got home, Sy played in the pooled for a while, ate a popsicle, and then we put him down for a nap but he talked the whole time, so I finally got him up. That night, we went to Steve-Bo's and La La's for dinner. We had ribs, potatoes, sausage, fried corn and salad. Sy played with their grandson Heath who is 4 years old and also LOVES cars and trucks so they got along great. On Sunday, we rode over the Carrabelle to see Grandpa Dozier and afterwards, we had lunch at the Hog Wild restaurant. Sy fell asleep on the way home and took a 2 hour nap afterwards. When he got up he played in the pool again until his Mom and Dad picked him up. It was some kind'a hot today! According to our thermometer, it was almost 100 degrees and that was in the shade!

Sunsets and Oil Spills
Hey everyone, Well it's another beautiful day in paradise. Let's just hope it's not "paradise lost" when/if the oil hits us. We just got back from watching another beautiful sunset that was sprinkled with jumping mullet and various birdies. We also watched 5 or so tour boats came in from sunset cruises carrying tourist who were probably thinking what the future holds for us too. Across the canal from where we were, there was a group of kids hanging out on a dock; one of them was fishing, but mostly they were just chill'n. I couldn't help but think that very soon, things may change drastically and may never be the same again, at least in my lifetime. Will there be any mullet jumping? Will all of the oysters be wiped out? Will there be any tourist going on sunset cruises? Will I have a job? Will I have to move in with my children? (Don't freak out ya'll, I'm just kidding about the last "will I".)
Here a couple of pics from tonight.

Well I have finally decided to blog. It's 10:13 p.m and I really do not know what I am doing. I am going to have to get Christie to tell me how to make this look good. So far, I have posted two videos - whoo hoo! Look out bloggers, here I come!
